Hi Wendy. I've never made butter in a processor but any movement can do it, even shaking the tub upside down will eventually give you butter so I cant see why not? As for the butter pats, well you don't need them, they just remove any last bit of buttermilk and give it a nice shape. You could just put the butter in a plastic bag and shape by hand.

Hi Shirley,

What a great idea! I didn't realise that making butter was so easy! (Well, you make it sound easy anyway....) I'll be on the lookout now for double cream in the reduced seciton!!
Can you use a food processor to mix it up? And wooden butter pats....? Are they readily available anywhere or is there anything else that could be used...?

Your website is great, very informative and full of great healthy ideas - which is just what I'm after!

Thanks,
Wendy x

Hi ladyc.... so you are not a scone fan then? Oh bad luck on buying the buttermilk instead of cream. I managed to get four pots of double cream today reduced to 42p Not as cheap as Christmas but I'll get four blocks of butter and enough buttermilk for a cheesy pasta for tomorrow.

I cant advise you on recipes because the buttermilk that is sold in supermarkets nowadays isnt the by product of buttermaking but some sort of cultured product.

Have a look on google for ideas of what to do with cultured milk. I do hope you dont get disheartened, you must have a go at buttermaking and report back to let me know how it goes.. good luck :-)
